1. Choose the better material of water tank, stainless steel SUS316L is better tank stainless steel SUS304, and stainless steel material done passivation better than not done.
2. Install Mg. anode or electronic anode on the water tank. Check the anode each year and suggest to replace Mg. anode every year in heavy scale corrosion area.
3. Install a water softener or filter. A water softener/filter is a device that can replace metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, and chlorine in hard water with sodium ions, thereby reducing the hardness of the water and reducing the formation of scale. The installation location of the water softener/filter is generally at the cold water inlet of the water tank.
4. Adjust the temperature of the water heater. The higher the temperature of the water heater, the faster the scale will be generated. Generally speaking, it is more appropriate to set the temperature of the water heater at 50~60℃, which can not only meet the needs of bathing, but also reduce the deposition of scale.
5. Drain scale regularly. Normally there is a drain hole with valve at the bottom of the water tank, which can be used to drain scale and impurities. We should open the drain valve regularly to drain the water in the tank.
Scale corrosion for example: picture 1 & 2 tanks running 10 months, picture 3 anode have gone after 2 years running, piture 4 heaters corrosion after running 18 months.
